Narconon doesn’t preach sobriety. Narconon is a program that helps addicts get off and stay off drugs, and educates people as to the dangers of drugs. You might do well to visit Narconon’s website and find out what it’s all about.
As for this purported quote from LRH, it is apparently a fabrication. Something similar appears to have been stated in 1938 by George Orwell, and several individuals with personal knowledge of the purported events have signed affidavits that such was never stated by LRH. (See here.) Based on my extensive personal knowledge of LRH and his work, it is quite unlikely that he ever said such a thing, and he certainly never acted on it. He was quite earnest in his work.
